Garner Montgomery
Multimedia Journalist

Garner Montgomery is a multimedia journalist for Action News 5. He hails from Starkville, Mississippi. He got his bachelor's degree in his hometown at Mississippi State University, where he was an Orientation Leader, a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and serving in the Student Association.
Garner began his journalism career as a part of the award-winning Take 30 News team at his college campus. He started working professionally as a multi-media journalist at WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi. During his time with WTVA, he covered destructive tornado damage, tight local election races, and high school football. After one year, he was promoted to the weekend anchor/producer.
Garner joined the Action News 5 newsroom in September of 2024. He is excited to call Memphis his new home and can't wait to share the top stories happening in the 9-0-1.
In his free time, Garner likes to relax by playing video games or word puzzles with a Coke Zero in his hand. When he's feeling more active, Garner likes to take long nature walks while listening an album he's never heard before.
If you see Garner around Memphis, give him a warm welcome to the city (he secretly loves being recognized but act like it in person). If you have a story idea, Garner would love to hear it! You can reach out to him by email, Facebook, or X(Twitter).
