Memphis Tigers fans react to Ryan Silverfield departure as head football coach
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Some Memphis Tigers fans showed support for Ryan Silverfield’s move to Fayetteville after six seasons as the team’s head football coach.
Tigers fans expressed no animosity toward Silverfield and wished him success following reports that the Arkansas Razorbacks have hired him to be their next head coach.
“I was happy for him. He gets to go to the SEC,” says Tigers alum Don Scott. “He’s done a good job up until this year.”
“We always have been somewhat of a stepping stone school, and you can’t really fault anyone for wanting to better their lives,” says season ticket holder Tiffany Warmbrod. “He’s got a wife and two kids now. Fayetteville sounds like a dream if you’re a coach.”
The university’s Senior Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Ed Scott shared a statement Sunday regarding the program’s future.
