Memphis man arrested in Florida for felony battery
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMC) - A Memphis man has been arrested in Florida after the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that he injured a 72-year-old resort employee.
Collin Ross was arrested for felony battery on a person over 65 by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday June 9, deputies from WCSO responded to a report from a resort that a guest took a pool umbrella from the employee-only area.
The initial confrontation was not on camera, but the rest of it was captured on video, according to the WCSO.
Witnesses and video showed the two separated and an older man on the ground. Then, Ross repeatedly struck the victim in the face despite no resistance or apparent threat, according to the WCSO
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that the victim suffered multiple injuries and Ross had a dislocated shoulder. Both were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment.
Ross was charged with felony battery and released on $5,000 bond on June 10.
