County commissioner announced campaign for mayor
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Commissioner Mickell Lowery announced he is running for mayor of Shelby County.
“Shelby County is my home. It’s where I grew up, where I’m raising my daughters, and where I’ve spent my career serving my community,” Lowery said. “The moment we are in demands bold leadership — someone who knows how to bring people together, take on real challenges, and deliver real results. That’s the kind of Mayor I intend to be.”
Incumbent Mayor Lee Harris was re-elected in 2022 and now faces a term limit.
Melvin Burgess Jr., J.W. Gibson, and JB Smiley Jr. are also in the running.
