MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Mayor Mickell Lowery’s team is hitting the road with a new mobile office that will connect residents directly with county leaders from their neighborhoods.

Mayor Lowery and Emergency Management Director Brenda Jones held a ribbon-cutting for the mobile unit Friday.

The mobile office will roll into neighborhoods around the county so residents can share concerns and ask questions.

“Shelby County is the largest county in Tennessee, and it’s a beautiful county, but it’s a large area,” Mayor Lowery said. “We can’t expect everyone to always have to come downtown to see what we’re doing. We have to make sure we’re in neighborhoods. Also, people work during the day, so sometimes they can’t get to Shelby County during traditional office hours.”

This unveiling is part of Mayor Lowery’s “One Shelby” project to bring government services out to the community.
