EARLE, Ark. (WMC) - One of the youngest mayors in the country is ready to run for another term.

Jaylen Smith, the mayor of Earle, Arkansas, says he’s planning to run for reelection.

He shared his plans for reelection in a Facebook post.

In the post, he said his administration has faced challenges, criticism, and distractions, but through it all, we never lost focus on one mission: putting Earle first.

“Real leadership is tested during difficult times, and I am proud that we never stopped fighting for the people of Earle,” Mayor Smith said in his post.

Smith, who started his term in 2022, became one of the youngest mayors ever elected in the United States at 18 years old.

“We’ve come too far to turn back now. The future of Earle is worth fighting for every single day,” Mayor Smith said.
