MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A trial date is set for the effort to remove Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert from office.

By the time the trial starts on May 1, Halbert will have just five months left on her term.

The trial was allowed to proceed after the Tennessee Supreme Court denied her appeal of a ruling overturning the case’s dismissal.

Halbert has faced several calls over the past years to remove her from office due to allegations of bad reports and poor management.
