MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Criminal charges have been dismissed against two former executives of Memphis Academy of Health Sciences charter school who were accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the institution.

Corey Johnson, the school’s former executive director, and Robert Williams, the former finance director, both had their charges dismissed in November 2025 and subsequently expunged from their records.

Johnson was accused of stealing $337,955 to purchase NBA tickets, a hot tub and other personal items during his tenure. He was terminated from the school in December 2019.

Williams was accused of receiving improper payroll payments totaling at least $35,295. He was terminated in February 2020, according to the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office.

Both men were indicted in 2021 alongside a third former employee in connection with the alleged theft of thousands of dollars during their time in leadership roles at the charter school.

“I am thankful that these criminal cases were dismissed and I can move on with my life,” Johnson said. “This has been a very trying 6 years. My faith and support from my family and friends have sustained me. I’m ready to put this behind me, secure the next professional opportunity and move on with my life.”

The status of charges against the third indicted employee, former nutritional services director Michael Jones, remains unclear.
