Cordova automotive teacher receives prize for teaching excellence
CORDOVA, Tenn. (WMC) - Brian Sneed, an automotive teacher in Cordova, has been named a winner of the 2024 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools prize for teaching excellence.
Sneed teaches at Cordova High School.
He’s one of 25 teachers across the country chosen for this award. This year, there were more than 900 applications for the prize.
The application process included three rounds of judging, each by an independent panel of experts from education, industry, nonprofits, and philanthropy.
“So over the last three years, I’ve been in Mr. Sneed’s class,” said Cordova High student Zach Meier. “He’s always gone above and beyond to make sure we have what we need to succeed and being able to give us real-world experience working on cars and being able to develop a trade that’s in dire need right now. So, it allows us to be more experienced in what we do and get real-world jobs.”
A $15,000 prize was given to Sneed and another $35,000 was given to Cordova’s automotive program.
