Arkansas man pleads guilty to murder of girlfriend’s 5-year-old who was found under home’s floorboards
MORO, Ark. (WMC) - An Arkansas man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his girlfriend’s five-year-old son in 2022.
On Monday, Nathan Bridges, 34, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and first-degree battery in the death of Blu Rolland, who lived in the Moro community west of Marianna in Lee County.
Bridges was sentenced to 60 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Blu’s body was uncovered beneath a floor inside his family’s home on Dec. 16, 2022, the day he would have turned six, according to Arkansas State Police.
It was believed that the boy died from injuries sustained three months prior.
The same day, Blu’s six-year-old sister was rushed to the hospital with several injuries, including second and third-degree burns on her arms, chest, and feet.
ASP arrested both Bridges and the children’s mother, 30-year-old Ashley Rolland.
Blu’s paternal grandmother Taylor Rolland told Action News 5 that she reported Ashley to DHS and others several times, but to her knowledge, nothing was done.
Ashley faces multiple felony charges, including capital murder, permitting child abuse, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, endangering the welfare of a minor, and battery.
Her case is still awaiting trial in Lee County.
