It seems everyone in the tiny town of Earle, Arkansas knew the Reverend Ronald Paige.

Paige, a COGIC minister, left the long established COGIC Church of Earle to start his own COGIC Church.

Word of Paige's passing spread quickly through the town Wednesday, but no could figure out the mystery behind his death.

"I miss him whole heartedly," friend Eric Jemison said.

The sadness was the result of what happened nearly 50 miles away.

Tuesday afternoon in a Raleigh apartment, Memphis police discovered the body of a man family members identified as Paige...the same man who pastored Cornerstone COGIC church in Earle.

Sources tell Action News 5 that Paige was clearly murdered.  Police will not comment, saying only that homicide detectives are not releasing any information.

Back at the church, members could not help but talk about Elder Paige.  The building he turned into a place of worship used to be the old Dollar Store.

While the parking lot sat empty Wednesday, neighbors said it would fill up on Sundays.

Jemison said that he sat in on several of Page's sermons, and all of them were moving.

"He was a real good guy. When he preached, he believed in the Lord whole-heartedly," Jemison said.

A man of the church, whose life is a memory and his death is a mystery.

Memphis Police still aren't releasing any details, but if you have information about this case, investigators ask you call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
