Convicted to life of love: Man enlists courtroom’s help to pull off surprise proposal
HERNANDO, MS (WMC) - A courtroom isn't the place you would expect to find romance.
Probation Officer Tiffany Allison was thinking more about sentencing than soulmates when she was shocked to see her boyfriend of two years, Brett Stidham, brought before the judge at Hernando Municipal Court.
"I couldn't speak, I could walk I couldn't do anything," Allison said. "All I seen was handcuffs, a jumpsuit and what could my sweet man possibly have done?"
Before the judge could read the charges, Brett confessed to a crime of passion.
"I'm guilty," Brett said in the video. "I'm guilty of being madly in love with the girl of my dreams."
"It still didn't really dawn on me what was going on," Allison said.
It was this moment Allison realized everyone else except her was in on the surprise. Brett then asked to be sentenced to a life of love.
"Tiffany my love, will you marry me?" he asked.
"Oh my god. I can't even talk. I don't like this outfit. Of course!" Allison responded.
"It was the craziest, scariest, happiest day of my life," Allison said.
Videos of the courtroom proposal have been viewed tens of thousands of times. Tiffany has even been recognized by a stranger in the grocery store!
"I love her with all my heart and that's why we're going to be newlyweds," Stidham told WMC Action News 5.
