MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police officers arrested a babysitting grandmother after a search found drugs and suspected drug money throughout her home.

Officers were called to the home on East Rollins Road on Thursday to serve a narcotics warrant.

Officers then found drugs, money, and a scale inside one bedroom.

They also found a .380 caliber handgun inside a shoebox, a .45 caliber handgun inside a nightstand, assorted bullets scattered in different locations, more drugs in another bedroom, a $1 bill with crack cocaine inside, and more money in the kitchen.

Officers also recovered hydrocodone pills inside a purse and a bag of unknown yellow powder in a jar on the kitchen counter.

In total, officers found two stolen handguns, several digital scales, a box of 9mm bullets, a box of .45 caliber bullets, 24 bags of marijuana, 10 hydrocodone pills, two grams of crack cocaine, and $2,190 in cash.

Police believed the money came from the sale of drugs.

Melissa Smith, 52, told officers that a 4-year-old and 3-year-old inside the home are her grandchildren and that she was babysitting the children.

Detectives ran Smith's criminal history, which showed she pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to sell in 2013.

Smith is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possessing a firearm during a felony, theft of property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
