All early voting locations set to open Tuesday
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Shelby County Election Commission is set to open all early voting precincts.
Per a judge's order, all 27 early voting locations must open Tuesday.
The openings come after sporadic issues at the polls this weekend.
Saturday, one polling location opened 45 minutes late.
"There was literally no one here," Kristen Cheers said.
Cheers showed up to Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church at 10 a.m. Saturday. She was ready to cast her ballot, but there was nobody there ready to accept her ballot.
Turns out, the poll worker in charge of the location thought it was supposed to open at 11 a.m.
"The officer of elections just got the time wrong. It wasn't an intentional mistake and when she found out she was horrified," Shelby County Administrator of Elections Linda Phillips said.
Last week a chancery court judge ordered the election commission to open all early voting precincts one day ahead of schedule.
The NAACP and Shelby County democrats sued the election commission over its original early voting schedule claiming disenfranchisement of African-American voters.
Below is the schedule for every early voting location in Shelby County:
