MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - It's been a hot week in the Mid-South, but nothing warms out hearts more than these 5 Great Things:

Gamers in Tampa, Florida, raised $2.7 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

For the fundraiser, elite gamers streamed their craft, all while urging viewers to donate money to end childhood cancer.

Members of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee went to Texas to help refugees.

The group, along with students from four area Catholic schools, helped provide warm meals and medical treatment to men, women and children.

NFL star and former Memphis Tiger Dontari Poe is giving back to his community.

Poe will be giving away free backpacks and school supplies next weekend to low-income families in Memphis.

Students from Stax Academy are featured in the new film, The King.

The King is showing at Malco Studio on the Square. The filmmakers even made a donation to the academy.

More than sixty volunteers from St. Jude's ALSAC helped beautify the Memphis River Parks.
