SHELBY COUNTY, TN (WMC) - A grand jury indicted a Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy for the rape of a teen girl.

Investigators said Brian Beck, 43, raped a 14-year-old girl multiple times during a 20-month period beginning in May 2016.

Beck faces two counts of rape by force and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Investigators said Beck was not on duty when the rapes occurred.

Beck, a deputy in Shelby County since 2004, was relieved of duty without pay.

Thursday, Beck's Germantown neighbors were left speechless when they learned about the grand jury indictments accusing the sheriff's deputy of multiple counts of rape and sexual battery by an authority figure.

"No, that's not the Bo I know," neighbor Cynthia Dunkin said. "I am shocked."

Court documents lay out the details, alleging the crimes happened over nearly two years between May 2016 and January 2018.

Investigators said the girl was 14 years old when the sexual activity began. Beck used "force" or "coercion," according to the indictment.

"You'll see him riding, cutting the lawn with his little boy in his lap," Dunkin said. "Seems to be the perfect father you know?"

According to the Shelby County District Attorney General's Office, Beck joined the sheriff's department in 2004.

The DA's office said Beck was not on duty when the alleged incidents occurred.

WMC5 stopped by his home, but no one came to the door.

Now a man who once put criminals behind bars finds himself on the other side of the badge, accused of sex crimes with a minor.

His bond was set at $90,000.
