MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department identified the body of the man who was discovered inside a van at an impound lot.

Police said 33-year-old Bardomiano Perez Hernandez was killed during a shooting on Yale Drive on Dec. 18, 2017.

Hernandez's former girlfriend Maris Morales said it looks like he might have survived if he had received medical attention the night he was shot.

Morales is the mother of his almost 2-year-old daughter and said she talked with him two days before he was shot.

She had no idea what happened to him until Wednesday when a detective called.

"I'm pretty angry," Morales said. "They didn't do their hardest to work on the case. I can't believe they just left the van there. They didn't investigate. It's an investigation, in an investigation, you have to investigate everything and they didn't. They just took the van to the impound just like that instead of looking inside of it if there was something for the case."

Morales said Hernandez, from Oaxaca, Mexico, had been in the US for 12 years. She said he did construction jobs and frequently went out of town.

She said an autopsy should reveal if Hernandez would have survived the shooting if he had been found the night it happened.

The suspects responsible have not been identified.

If anyone has any information pertaining to this investigation, they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
