Man shot, killed at Memphis apartment complex
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department responded to a shooting at an apartment complex Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened at the Eden at Watersedge apartments just before 2:40 p.m.
Police said a man was found dead at the scene.
"I heard a loud shot. It was really loud," a neighbor said.
Police were called back to the tense crime scene after people started pulling guns and arguing.
Neighbors said the uneventful Thursday afternoon was broken with the sound of five or six gunshots.
The alarming scene, with more than a dozen police officers, greeted school children who had just gotten out of school.
The children stood in the cold, unable to get to their apartments. They talked with police officers who escorted some of them to their homes.
Relatives stood by crying and waiting to hear some word of exactly what happened.
"It's going all around Memphis. That's crazy," a neighbor said.
It is an all too familiar scene. Back in May, a PB&J tow truck driver was shot while checking for illegally-parked vehicles at the complex.
"Somebody lost their life today. That's crazy," a neighbor said.
Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
