COVINGTON, TN (WMC) - Residents in one Covington neighborhood are left in shock after one person was killed and another injured in a shooting in the 1200 block of Douglas Street.

Tim Edwards, 38, was killed in the Thursday night shooting. Friends and neighbors of Edwards can't believe the person they saw just hours before is now dead.

"I just seen him earlier yesterday," Jaquita Sanford, family friend, said.

Neighbors said the shooting was gang related. District Attorney Mike Dunavant said they are looking into that possibility. According to Dunavant, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now working together with Covington Police Department on the case.

Regardless of the reason, friends and loved ones said this should have never happened.

"A life was taken over something so pointless," Sanford said.

Investigators said Edwards' wife called the police and said three masked men came into her home and shot her husband. During the investigation, officers found a second victim, Armani Hall, lying in the street with a gunshot wound. Hall was taken to Regional Medical Center.

Sanford said Edwards was a husband, a father, and a good man.

"If he having a good time, he want you to have a good time as well and just the type of person he was," Sanford said. "Now all that in a split second is gone."
