MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in the Riverview neighborhood.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene on West Essex, near Arkansas Street, after a woman said her boyfriend had been shot.

Marlon Elliott died while doing a good dead, according to his family. Marlon was shot and killed inside of his car Wednesday morning.

"I heard like 10-15 gunshots," Jasmine Rankin said.

According to his brother, Elliott had just pulled up to his girlfriend's house to take her kids to school.

"It just don't make sense to take somebody life," Mario Elliott, victim's brother, said. "He and his girlfriend were sitting in the car at the time, and he got shot."

Elliott is trying to make sense of the devastation. He said he doesn't really know what happened, but he's not ruling out the fact that his brother may have been set up.

"They say some kids walked up and started shooting at him," Elliott said. "It hurts really, really bad. Really bad."

Elliott's girlfriend was not shot and was seen getting into a police car for questioning after the shooting happened. According to witnesses, she was the one who called police.

"She was calling and saying they had shot him--and they shot up the car--and they [officers] came like two minutes later," Rankin said.

Elliott was a father of three and his brother said he loved his kids and was working to turn his life around.

His brother has one plea to the person(s) responsible: "I just hope that y'all turn yourselves in or whatever y'all do, because it doesn't make any sense."

No one else was injured in the shooting. At this time, nobody has been charged in the crime.
