MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Two people were shot inside a Memphis nightclub and one of those victims has died, according to Memphis Police Department.

The security guard that was working at the club has been arrested for the shooting.

Police rushed to O'Cielo Bar and Grill on American Way on Wednesday night after a shooting happened at the business. It appears there was a birthday party happening inside the club.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene; the other victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The 30-year-old victim remains in critical condition at the hospital, according to MPD.

Friends said Alvin Hart was the man killed at the nightclub. They said he was the father of three and a well-known barber who owned his own shop.

"He was a real brother for me. Anything I asked for him. We can talk," Ricky Junios, grew up with Hart, said.

One nightclub patron posted video inside the club after the shooting on Facebook.

According to the owner of the nightclub, two men were upset when they couldn't get inside the business because they were at capacity.

Investigators said those two men opened fire on the club. That's when an unlicensed security guard returned fire, shooting two innocent bystanders.

Katrina Gordon said her sister was inside the nightclub when the shots were fired and the gunfire barely missed her. Both women are sisters to WMC Action News 5's Janeen Gordon.

"The waitress told her to get down," Katrina said. "I know how this goes down and she's thankful that the waitress pretty much saved her life because as she was getting down the guy standing next to her was shot."

The shooting has left many at a loss for words, including those like Ryan Haskett who is friends with Hart's sons.

"He impacted countless people in the community and it's very sad," Haskett said.

O'Cielo Bar and Grill released the following statement on its Facebook page:

"Thank you to everyone who was concerned enough to give us a call and to make sure everyone was okay. Unfortunately, the irresponsible actions of individuals who had no conscious of the damage he would cause, has resulted in a fatality of an innocent person. Thank you to everyone who has sent good wishes and the prayers to the victim's family. Unfortunately it was out of our control of the individual shooting from take outside towards the crowd. Thank you for your concern. Our prayers to the friends and Family. Justice will be served Swiftly."

According to the owner of the restaurant, they will be adding more security at the bar. Those additions will include possible metal detectors to ensure customer safety.
