Family wants answers after mother found buried in backyard
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A family still has many questions after their loved one was found buried in a shallow grave in a South Memphis backyard.
Samantha Cox, a mother of two, was found behind a home Monday.
"Don't nobody deserve to be treated like that," Cox's sister Tyshal Cox said. "It's not fair."
Police said Cox, 32, was killed.
"She didn't bother nobody," sister Tara Montgomery said. "I'm trying to figure out what the motive was. Why?"
Cox was the mother of 8- and 16-year-old girls. Both are now staying with family.
Family said Cox was very spiritual, always willing to help others, and had no enemies. They also said she had some mental issues and drug problems.
"It's just a thought that maybe she owed somebody for some drugs and she couldn't pay up so they did that to her," Montgomery said.
How and why Cox was killed remains a mystery.
"Right now I just feel sorry for my two nieces, because they have to live with this for the rest of their life," Montgomery said.
They hope the person responsible does the right thing and admits guilt.
"Just confess if you did it," Cox said "God knows and you're not going to get away with this."
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a funeral and to assist Cox's children. If you would like to donate, click here.
