MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The principal of Fairley High School was arrested on charged of tampering with and fabricating evidence.

On February 15, police went to Fairley High when nude pictures of a student were posted to Facebook.

While police were investigating, Zachary Samson saw that two students had pictures of the girl exposing herself on their phones. Police said Samson told the two to delete the pictures immediately.

Police later identified the girl in the photos as a 17-year-old.

A forensic exam of the phone was done and the pictures were found to be deleted.

Samson, 31, was arrested for two charges of tampering with/fabricating evidence.

Green Dot Public Schools released a statement on the arrest:

"Student safety and dignity are top priorities for our organization, and certainly for our school leaders. While we don't yet have all the facts in this case, we are cooperating with law enforcement, and continuing to focus on providing our students the learning environments most conducive for their achievement."
