Man shot, killed at Eden at Waters Edge Apartments

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man was shot and killed at a Memphis apartment complex just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to Memphis Police Department.

MPD investigators said they found a man with a gunshot wound lying unconscious on the ground at Eden at Waters Edge Apartments located in the 2800 block of South Mendenhall Road.

A woman called police to report seeing the man on the ground.

MPD said one woman was detained for questioning. It's not clear at this time if the woman being detained is the woman who called police.

Ginger Hodges' daughter lives at Eden at Waters Edge Apartments.

"It's just scary, because she [her daughter] has to go home," Hodges said. "So when she goes home, do I get up and check on her every five minutes and call and step out to make sure there's nobody scared?"

MPD is investigating this death as a homicide. That makes 117 homicides in Memphis so far in 2016.
