MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Mid-South pastor is behind bars, accused of raping and beating a woman.

According to the police affidavit, Damond Roker, also known as Bishop DJ Roker, beat a woman and then raped her with a metal object .

The rape happened at a home while a witness was present. Police said Roker tried to clean the scene and the victim after his attack. He then raped the woman again after the witness left for work.

"A pastor is where you go for help, and you should be able to share your innermost thoughts with him," neighbor Mark Whitby said.

Roker is a pastor at Redemptive Life Church. Nobody affiliated with the church was available for comment Monday.

The church's voicemail still uses Roker's voice.

"Hello this is Bishop DJ Roker and thank you for calling Redemptive Life Church, the home of DJ Roker, the world of evangelism," the voice mail says.

The attack left the woman with bruises on her face, ears, and forearms.

"I'm not going to judge him, but if these allegations are true that's just terribly shocking," Whitby said.

Roker is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated assault, and tampering with or fabricating evidence.

He's scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
