MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - For the first time, the public is seeing the face of the 16-year-old accused of killing a man in an IHOP parking lot.

Sebastian Vaughn, aka "Sideburns," faces murder charges in the death of Marlo Williams, 35.

Wednesday, Shelby County District Attorney's Office petitioned to transfer Vaughn to jail and charge him as an adult.

Vaughn is currently in custody as a juvenile, which is one reason his picture has not been made public. Law enforcement agents said privacy laws keep them from releasing mugshots of juvenile offenders.

After a week of trying, WMC Action News 5 was able to confirm pictures of Vaughn with multiple sources. We have chosen to release the pictures now that we are sure he is the teen in those pictures.

As for Vaughn being transferred to criminal court (in other words, being charged as an adult), it could take months. A judge must rule on the D.A.'s transfer petition before anything else happens. The courts have not scheduled a transfer hearing yet.

Investigators said Vaughn killed Williams. took pictures of the body with a visible gunshot wound, and then posted them on Snapchat.

"We'll never get him back but to get justice for him is something that we're looking forward to," Williams' brother Antonio Williams said.

The murder happened June 20. Investigators arrested Vaughn a couple days later. Neither law enforcement nor juvenile court officials released Vaughn's mugshot (or any other picture of him), citing laws protecting minors.

Vaughn is charged with first-degree murder.

Court records show Vaughn lives with his mother. She did not answer the door when media arrived at her house seeking a comment.

"As a man, I never will understand what you did, because you took my brother," Antonio said. "Whoever else is involved in it, Sebastian [should] give him up."

Juvenile Court Judge Dan Michael said prosecuting Vaughn as an adult means prosecutors are taking the case extremely seriously.

"The transfer cases that I hear primarily are the worst cases we have," Michael said.

Williams' family said it is not seeking revenge, but it is praying for justice.

"We are hurt," Antonio said. "We are torn apart as a family.
