MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Today Show's Al Roker will not participate in the Memphis In May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

Roker previously announced he and several Today Show producers would enter the contest under the name "Roker's Smokers."

Thursday, Roker's team said they had to cancel their entry. The team said it had a scheduling conflict, but would not give any details about the conflict.

This year marks the 39th anniversary of the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, one of America's most prestigious barbecue competitions. The contest takes place May 12-14 at Tom Lee Park.
