MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police arrested a man they said attacked a Memphis police officer.

According to the police report, officers found a shooting victim on the front porch of a house in the 4000 block of Knob Drive. The victim had been shot in the shoulder.

While officers tried to ask the victim who shot him and where, 57-year-old Reginald Johnson came out of the house and tried to bring the victim inside, telling him not to talk to police.

Officers then told the victim to come back outside and wait for paramedics, but Johnson yelled expletives at the officers.

According to the report, officers tried to calm him down, but Johnson lunged at one of the officers. The officer was able to avoid the attack and restrain the suspect while another officer sprayed him with a "chemical agent."

Police said Johnson continued to resist arrest, but the officers eventually handcuffed him against his will.

Johnson is charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
