Thousands were left in the cold Monday night when a massive power outage hit Midtown and East Memphis.

According to MLGW, almost 9,000 people were without power. Crews believe a transformer fire sparked the fire at an MLGW substation at the intersection of Grandview Street and Grandview Avenue.

Crews were able to quickly restore power. The outage lasted 45 minutes.
