Teen arrested in connection with murder of man, pregnant woman
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man and a pregnant woman are dead after a shooting in an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Westchester Circle.
When police arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers found a woman who was also shot. She was taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but later died. The woman was six-to-eight weeks pregnant.
Investigators said the two victims were sitting in a Honda Accord when a black woman shot them.
The suspect drove away with another woman in a silver Mitsubishi.
Police found a vehicle that fit the description. Police also took a possible suspect into custody. Police identified her as 18-year-old Victoria Seay.
Police said Seay admitted to seeing the woman shoot the victims and run away from the scene. Seay told police she picked the suspect up in her car and drove away.
Neighbors at the apartment complex said they fear for their safety and will not rest until the shooter is behind bars.
"Once they saw the guy wasn't moving, they ran towards the car, they opened the door and they pulled him out of the vehicle," one neighbor said, "They dragged him to the side of the car so they can get in and they moved the vehicle."
The neighbor did not want to be identified because of fears for safety, but one said looking out her window at the spot where a man's body was found has her uneasy.
"That is somebody's son," she said. "It's somebody's husband or somebody's father. When is this going to stop?"
She said after hearing the shots Friday, she looked outside and saw someone crouching behind a car and saw a man sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle not moving.
"You wake up every day and you don't think for one minute this is your last day."
Seay is charged as an accessory after the fact with three counts.
Police are still searching for the second suspect.
