Police identify man shot in the head, suspect still on the run
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One man has died after being shot in the head in the 4000 block of Castle Heights Drive and police are still looking for a suspect.
The victim, identified by police as 19-year-old Teddarius Woods, was found lying in the street when emergency responders arrived.
Officers attempted to administer CPR, but Woods did not survive.
For neighbors, it is too much.
"Just a bunch of rapid shootings...gunshots," neighbor Greg Calvin said.
After gunfire rang out, neighbors looked and saw a man lying in the street.
"When I came outside, the police were over there trying to resuscitate him. I guess, trying to keep him alive. It didn't work out that way," Calvin said.
Neighbors said they believe the man who died lives in the cove. They said a gun was lying next to his body, but they have no idea why he was shot.
"I've seen him before around here. I'm sick of it. I'm really sick."
Police focused on the cove that had a few cars erratically parked. It's a neighborhood filled with children and neighbors said it is very scary.
"A bullet could have hit me, anybody here," Calvin said.
Residents said they know there is a lot of crime in Memphis, but when you see it in your own neighborhood it becomes real.
"It's just a sad thing. Everyday when you wake up in the city of Memphis, Tennessee because I'm really tired of it, you know," neighbor Chris Shaw said.
The suspects possibly are driving a white SUV.
