Vigil held in Como for murder victims
COMO, MS (WMC) - It was an emotional night in Como, Mississippi Thursday as friends and family held a candlelight vigil for double murder victims. Cerea Jackson, 22, and her grandmother Emma Jackson, 65, were killed last week.
Cerea's father had a strong message for the man charged in the crime, the victim's estranged boyfriend.
"You a coward. You a coward and a punk to kill somebody in front of your kids," father Tony Davis said.
Police said Cerea's 4-year-old child went to a neighbor's house after the women were shot to death.
Quendarius Robinson, 24, was arrested in Batesville after a multi-day manhunt and charged with double murder.
"If you're brave enough to do it, you should be brave enough to put handcuffs on you," Davis said.
Davis was joined by dozens of others near the home in Como where the murders took place.
Tiny lit candles, prayers, and songs filled the night in memory of the grandmother and granddaughter who lost their lives.
The family said it will take time and a lot more prayer in order to recover.
"And, I will spend my life getting justice for my daughter," Davis said.
Police said Robinson and Cerea Jackson had a long and troubled relationship. Local, state and federal agents all worked together to track Robinson down.
