MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man died after a fight with his girlfriend early Sunday morning.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m.

The girlfriend told police that she and her boyfriend were fighting and she stabbed him.

Police identified Travis White, 26, as the man killed.

The girlfriend was taken into custody, but later released without being charged.

Police presented all evidence related to the case to the District Attorney General's office. The DA's office determined that no charges will be filed at this time.

Neighbors said they were awoken by police sirens early in the morning.

"It was like 1:30, 2:00 in the morning, so I didn't even open my door to see what's going on," Aracely Hernandez said.

Neighbors said they never noticed any problems at the townhouse before.

"I don't hear no commotions over here, don't hear none of that. This is the first time in a while," Rico Puckett said.

While neighbors were upset that someone died, they believe she must have acted in self-defense.

"It don't need to go that far," Mayfield said. "I mean, you together, you should talk it out. Violence is not it."
