MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - People living in Whitehaven spent Friday praying for peace with police officers.

Police cruisers stopped traffic along Shelby Drive as hundreds of people marched to Southland Drive. Many of them with candles lit, all with passions ignited.

The rally was rousing as well as somber when participants read the names of murder victims.

"I'm just a firm believer that all the answers to our problems God put within us," Memphis Police Colonel James Kirkwood said. "It's up to us to dig them out. They just don't come out easy"

Both old and young left this rally ready to help make Memphis a better place.
