MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Surveillance video caught a frightening sight in a Memphis neighborhood.

A pack of wild dogs roamed the streets near Central Gardens.

"It's a little scary," resident Tracy Wiswall said. "I mean, I've been taking my cat in at nighttime."

Wiswall said several small pets were attacked or killed in the area. The most recent victim was a neighbor's cat.

"The remains of the cat turned up on a lawn of the neighbor of the victim," Wiswall recalled. "It was a fairly gruesome sight for the person who's lawn it wound up on."

The clues that led residents to the suspected attackers were images caught on a neighbor's surveillance camera just before that attack.

Though the pack seems to only target small animals, some neighbors are concerned.

"I think the bigger fear is maybe they'll upgrade to small children that might be unmonitored for a few minutes or a few seconds as the weather gets nice and people come outside," Wiswall explained.

Neighbors said they have reported the attack to Memphis Animal Services and the Memphis Police Department. In the meantime, Wiswall hopes sharing the images of the pack on sites like Nextdoor.com will help warn others.

"Hopefully, putting it out there will allow people to see the dogs and not say, 'oh, look at the poor stray dogs,' but 'oh my goodness those might be the dogs killing animals in my neighborhood.'"
