NACA event back in Memphis helping families with homeownership
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Home ownership: it's the American Dream. The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) program is back in Memphis helping families get in a home and keep it.
For five days, the NACA will be at the Cook Convention Center assisting both homeowners and potential home buyers.
It's the organization's fourth year in the Bluff City.
"We are the nation's largest certified non-profit home advocacy organization," Herrera said. "We have returned to Memphis to help not
only Memphis but people around the area who are struggling with unaffordable mortgage."
Carolyn Woods is one of hundreds of who attended the event Friday. NACA helped her keep her home several years ago while she was unemployed.
"I'm on a fixed income, and I'm struggling to pay my mortgage payments," Woods said. "That's why I'm back again."
Woods said she initially learned about the resource at her church.
"I am so thankful that I learned about it. Our pastor brought this to us," said Woods.
The event gives homeowners the unique opportunity to meet face to face with major lenders on-site to get affordable same-day solutions.
A homeowner since 2004, Woods now encourages others to use NACA as a free community resource.
"I've been telling everybody that about NACA because it's a positive thing for the community," said Woods.
