Police investigate early morning break-in at Raleigh-Egypt HS

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police are investigating a break-in at Raleigh-Egypt High School located in the 3900 block of Voltaire Avenue early Wednesday morning.

An alarm company called police around 3 a.m. after spotting three people inside the school through surveillance cameras.

Police say the three teenagers entered the school by breaking out a cafeteria window. The window was the only damage to the school.

Officers found a teenager with a shirt covering his face in the playground area. Another officer found a second teenager who had jumped a fence at the back of the school in a wooded area. A third boy was taken into custody in the the main foyer of the school.

Police say the cafeteria, room 129, and many other parts of the school were ransacked. The school says the security tempered glass window was valued at $1,000-$1,500.

All three boys are 15 years old and are all charged with burglary and vandalism over $500.
