MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - On the first full day of operations at Bass Pro Shops at The Pyramid, it seemed that every customer found something that floats their boat.

Hours before the doors opened at 8 a.m., the line outside spiraled around the parking lot.

"This is unbelievable, beyond words," said Memphian Richard Rieves, "I'm an avid hunter and fisher and I just had to see what Bass Pro looks like."

Guests were greeted by a live band, coffee, juice and doughnuts.

Rieves brought his grandsons, who are ages three and four.

Tim Hawkins of Coldwater, Mississippi stopped by looking for work. A retired fisherman, Hawkins said he applied hoping to continue doing something he loves.

"It would be a good job for me because this is a lot of the things I use to do," he said.

Keeping the cash registers ringing, shoppers found something for every member of the family from bibs to bait.

Customers in the market for a boat could purchase the Nitro Z21. Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid is the first store to sell the boat, which is priced just over $50,000.

American Billiard's star Jeanette Lee, "The Black Widow," was in town for the grand opening and stayed the night in Big Cypress Lodge.

"Everywhere you look you see a unique, special thing, where you feel like they took time for all the details," said Lee. "Just elegance, comfortable elegance."

Like other Bass Pro fans, Lee said this visit won't be her last.

"It's just beautiful and I will definitely be back," she added.

Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid is now open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
