MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A recent carjacking has left some residents of a Downtown Memphis apartment complex scared and looking for more security to keep them safe.

Last week, a woman was reportedly forced out of her car at gunpoint at the Crescent Bluff Apartments and robbed of her car.

These apartments are located in the 20 block of  East Virginia Avenue, near Florida Street.

Residents shared a letter from management posted on their doors notifying them of the attack and warning residents to be aware of their surroundings. Still, residents say not enough is being done.

"Security, extra security," says Vladimir Louis. Louis says he would like to see more security in the complex to monitor activities.

"I think people just target this area because it is nice," says Louis.

"You have residents you have to protect," says another resident.

Other residents are worried the complex's entrance gate is not keeping criminals out.

"I'm not sure how they are getting in, but they are getting in and are getting out pretty fast," says Lashala Sasfras.

WMC Action News 5 reached out the apartment complex management for comment on the safety concerns and are still waiting on a phone call back.
