MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One man is dead and another is on the run after Memphis police say an homeowner fired shots to protect his family.

A family member who lives at the home says the homeowner shot a man after an intruder forced his way inside and tried to rob them.

Police identified 22-year-old Nico Carlisle as the suspect. The family member says Carlisle put a gun to head of the homeowners girlfriend, and that's when the homeowner opened fire.

"I would have done the same damn thing," said neighbor Jerome Foster.

Neighbors say the man who lives there is a barber. They believe the robber knew what he was doing and was likely after the man's money.

"He said he wanted a haircut, but he didn't want a haircut. He wanted to get up in the house so he can rob him," added the family member.

Investigators say a second suspect, who never went inside the home, ran from the scene and has not been found.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner, and there were no injuries to anyone inside the home.

If you know anything about the second suspect who ran from the scene, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
