MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Friends are organizing a candlelight vigil to be held Thursday for the man who was killed in a home invasion on Friday evening.

Tony Banks, still can't believe he is talking about the murder of his best friend, Jarmelle "JoJo" Jones.

"He had the best heart, the best spirit, he was just like a ball of energy," Banks said. "Anybody who come in contact with JoJo is just, you are impacted by just being around him. He's just a genuine person."

Banks met Jones at a basketball camp in eighth grade. Since then, they attended one another's high school and college graduations, vacations, and hung out all over Memphis.

During the home invasion robbery, police say the two gunmen stole Jones' car.

"For somebody to do this, they have to be evil," Banks said. "And they definitely cannot know him, because if you know JoJo, you know that everything about JoJo is always positive. It's always good."

Investigators say there is no apparent reason for which Jones was targeted.

"Man, I would give my right arm to see these people get caught," Banks added. "Like, seriously, like, whoever did this, they need to be under the jail."

Jones' girlfriend was also shot. She was released from the hospital and posted a heart-wrenching message on Facebook, where thousands of other friends and loved ones mourn along with Banks.

"I got friends, but I don't have too many friends that I can call a brother and that's what JoJo was. He was a real brother to me," Banks explained.

Jones' stolen car was found. Homicide investigators say there is still no suspect information available. If you can help, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.

The vigil for Jarmelle Jones will be held Thursday at New Olivet Baptist church. The time and other details are still being worked out.
