Jimi Jamison remembered at public memorial

(WMC) - Friends and family of singer songwriter Jimi Jamison remembered him Tuesday at a public memorial at Central Church in Collierville.

Jamison, who grew up in Memphis, is best remembered as the front man for the band Survivor, and the hit "Eye of the Tiger." Jamison died suddenly of an apparent heart attack Sept. 1.

Rolling Stone magazine called Jamison, "a true Rock and Roll Legend," and his children Lacy and Jamie remembered his humor.

"We wanted everybody to be able to come and say goodbye and celebrate what an effect he had on everybody's life throughout the world," said Jamison's wife, Debbie.

Jamison was also known for his charitable work with Make A Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House.
