(WMC-TV) - An argument after a high school football game finds one Mid-South teen dead on school property.

According to the Sheriff's office, 15-year-old Roderick Bobo was shot and killed at North Panola High School Friday night.

His teammates recounted the night vividly.

"We was down by a lot of points, but we ain't never gonna get up," declared Vonderick Hunt.

The Cougars had just lost the game and were meeting in center field when shots were heard.

"I heard 5 shots. Then, like a second later, coach told us to run into the field house," continued Hunt.

Hunt and his teammates ran inside to safety and 15 minutes later they heard a helicopter.

Bobo's mother was in Southaven at the time and got a call to head to the hospital. She learned there later her son had died.

"I didn't really know what was going on," acknowledged Bobo's mother.

Saturday family gathered at Bobo's Sardis, Mississippi home as they tried to make sense of what happened.

Bobo's cousin told Action News 5 he was one of the good guys.

"He was an athlete, he was a good person, he was everything," stated Detrick Porter.

Another family member wants all the shooting to end.

"I'm just tired of it, I'm tired of all the killing. I'm tired of all that," stated John McGill.

Bobo's family acknowledged the incident was gang related.

The shooting did occur after the first football game of the season and Bobo was an athlete.

Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby confirmed at least a dozen people are in custody. All are being questioned in regards to Friday's shooting.

Darby explained why such a large crowd is being held.

"A large group of people were involved (and we) are still gathering interviews and evidence before anyone is charged with the crime," Darby said.

He also added they are working to get surveillance video of the shooting to determine who pulled the trigger.

Darby expects to file charges on Sunday and release those who are not charged.
