49-year-old teacher, pastor, coach found dead in Cordova
(WMC-TV) - The Shelby County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Ridgeway High School basketball coach.
The family of 49-year-old Jimmy McClain tells Action News 5 he was a teacher, coach, and a pastor.
McClain was found dead in his home on Cordova Club Drive Friday morning when detectives went to the home to check on his well-being. He had not been seen or heard from in a few days.
McClain's sister, Carla, was among the stunned family members who showed up outside his home.
"Very intelligent, highly intelligent man. Sweet, sweet soul, wouldn't hurt a flea," she said.
McClain was the basketball coach at Ridgeway High, as well as a pastor at a church in Benton, Arkansas, according to his sister.
Officials are investigating McClain's death as a homicide, but they will not say how he died. Nobody has been arrested in the case but the Shelby County Sheriff's Department says the public is not in danger.
