MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - A woman who was critically injured after falling off a horse-drawn wagon in North Carolina has died, according to her son.

Eddie Quesenberry said that on Oct. 17, his mom and aunt were seriously injured after a tree branch fell and hit a wagon at Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville.

Lazy 5 Ranch said the horses jumped after the wagon hit the branch, causing three people to fall and be hospitalized. Following the incident, Quesenberry told WBTV’s Michael Warrick that his mother had serious head trauma and was likely going to spend several months in the hospital.

He posted an update on Facebook on Thursday that his mother had died from her injuries.

He said his mother was an organ donor and that it made him happy knowing that, even in their darkest moment, her love and generosity could bring hope to others.

Quesenberry did not say what condition his aunt was in.

WBTV has reached out to Lazy 5 Ranch for a statement, but has not heard back. According to its website, Lazy 5 Ranch is privately owned and offers a drive-thru safari experience, wagon rides and a petting zoo with animals from all over the world.

Quesenberry launched a GoFundMe to help his mother and aunt with medical expenses.
