Collierville leaders provide completion timeline for Shelby Drive road work
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) - The Town of Collierville has released a new timeline for the completion of the Shelby Drive construction project that began last summer.
The entire construction zone spans between the area of Collierville High School and Highway 72.
Phase One
City leaders say the construction zone directly in front of the school and the neighboring fire station is expected to be finished and open to all traffic before students return to school on August 5.
Traffic patterns in the area are expected to be identical to the start of last school year.
Phase Two
Traffic is expected to open up from the fire station to Highway 72 using the two new eastbound lanes by mid-to-late September.
Phase Three
The entire project is still expected to be completed by the end of December.
The work to widen this stretch of Shelby Drive and update the surrounding infrastructure began in May 2025.
Construction was originally slated to finish before the start of the 2025-26 school year, but the estimated completion date was pushed back to December 2026 last fall.
