MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Two men have been sentenced to serve more than seven years in prison after a conviction in a RICO conspiracy, according to the Department of Justice.

Larry Wilson, 36, is from Memphis and he has been sentenced to 87 months or 7.25 years in federal prison. Braxton Beck has also pleaded guilty to his role in a tattoo shop robbery and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Wilson admitted to attempting to commit and committing a robbery as well as distributing methamphetamine as part of a pattern of racketeering for Young Mob, a Memphis-based gang created in 2007, according to court records and statements made in court.

In June 2024, Wilson along with multiple members and other associates of Young Mob robbed three customers at gunpoint in a Memphis tattoo shop, according to the Department of Justice.

The DOJ also said that Wilson distributed and conspired to distribute methamphetamine with other gang members from Young Mob.

Under a court order, investigators monitored wire and electronic communications from March 2024 to mid June 2024 between Wilson and other Young Mob members.

Intercepted conversations revealed that Wilson and other gang members were planning to distribute and distributing large amounts of fentanyl and meth.

In addition, these conversations revealed that Wilson along with other Young Mob members were committing acts of violence as part of their racketeering activity.

On June 11, Wilson and other gang members attempted to rob a Memphis tattoo parlor. Investigators learned about the plan and they intervened before the robbery could take place, according to the DOJ.

On June 12, Wilson and others learned the same customer returned and another robbery plan was attempted. Police were once again dispatched and marked police units arrived at the tattoo shop, preventing another robbery.

After police left, Wilson and others stormed the tattoo shop and robbed three people including the original target of the first plot.
