National Football Foundation awards scholarships to 12 local student-athletes
GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) - The National Football Foundation has awarded scholarships to 12 local student-athletes who stand out in sports and academics.
The young men, chosen for their grades and performance on the gridiron, were celebrated Monday evening during a banquet at The Great Hall & Conference Center located in Germantown, Tennessee.
“It’s been great being coached by a legendary coach who’s teaching us how to be a man and how to handle business on and off the field,” said Za’Colby Malone, offensive line at Whitehaven High School, of his coach Stan Collins. “And the athlete part is just as important as the student part.”
The National Football Foundation has honored more than 106,000 scholar-athletes since the first chapter banquet in 1959, and has distributed more than $29 million in scholarships.
