MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A federal jury has found a Memphis man guilty of committing a series of armed robberies targeting phone stores in October 2024.

Maurice Harris, 32, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 75 years in federal prison due to his prior convictions, and additional time for violating the conditions of his supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee announced the guilty verdict Monday.

According to information presented in court, within a span of six days, Harris posed as a customer in three different phone stores before pulling a handgun and demanding that employees hand over phones and tablets.

Prosecutors say that on Oct. 4, 2024, Harris robbed a T-Mobile store on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis.

Three days later, he robbed a Cricket Wireless store along Dupress Street in Brownsville, Tennessee. Prosecutors say a five-year-old witnessed the heist. Harris also left his driver’s license behind at the scene.

Three days after that, Harris robbed an AT&T store along Airline Road in Arlington.

Law enforcement officials later arrested Harris at his job on Nov. 6, 2024, where he was in possession of the same handgun used in the robberies.

After a three-day trial, Harris was convicted of three counts of robbery, three counts of using a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and one count of being a felon in possession of a handgun.

His sentencing is set for March 18, 2026.
