Power banks sold on Amazon recalled after reports of fires, burn injuries
(Gray News) – Power banks sold on Amazon are being recalled after the Consumer Product Safety Commission received reports of fires and burns resulting from the overheating of the devices’ lithium batteries.
The CPSC said about 210,000 INIU BI-B41 Power Banks are being recalled.
The recalled power banks have a black or blue case, and the INIU logo and a paw-printed LED light are on the front. The model and serial number are printed on the back of the power bank at the bottom. The CPSC said only power banks with serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21 and 000L21 are included in the recall.

INIU has received 15 reports of power banks overheating, including 11 reports of fires that resulted in three minor injuries and property damage amounting to over $380,000.
The power banks were sold on Amazon.com from August 2021 to April 2022 for about $18.
Anyone who has purchased one of the recalled power banks should stop using it immediately and visit INIU’s recall page on their website to register for a full refund.
The CPSC said you should not throw the power bank or its battery in the trash, in curbside or street-level recycling bins, or in used battery recycling boxes found at retail and home improvement stores.
Instead, you should contact your local municipal hazardous waste collection center and ask if they collect lithium batteries. If it does not, contact your municipality for further guidance.
